Conditions We Treat

Conditions We Treat

We treat different kinds of eye conditions here at Arena Eye Care Optometry. Our top quality eye care services are available for you to take advantage of. Below are some conditions we treat in the Sacramento area.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is caused pressure in your eyes, often without symptoms, which can eventually lead to blindness. Glaucoma is a common condition that affects people as they get older, although glaucoma can affect patients at any age. This condition can be diagnosed and treated early. Make sure to have your eyes checked annually so that we can catch glaucoma and other eye conditions early on and treat them before they start impacting the quality of your life.

Diabetic Retinopathy

Diabetic retinopathy is a disorder caused when a patient has any type of diabetes. Diabetic retinopathy is a common cause of blindness. Patients with diabetes need to come in to have their eyes dilated at least once a year. This will help us monitor your eyes and send information to your general physician about any changes in your eyes related to diabetes.

Macular Degeneration

Macular Degeneration is a condition where the patient's central vision is lost. This condition is common in aging patients. Certain and easy to implement lifestyle changes can slow the disease and help people with or at risk of developing macular degeneration. Having your yearly eye exam will help us catch this condition and treat it accordingly.

Cataracts

Vision that becomes cloudy over time can be caused by cataracts. Cataracts can occur in patients at any age, although this condition is more common in older patients. Special eyeglasses can help patients with cataracts see better. There is also surgery, where the cataract is removed from the eye.

Limited Vision

Patients who are able to see but have reduced vision despite wearing the best glasses prescription have what is called low vision. These people may or may not be legally blind. Our optometry team can help low vision patients with watching television, reading or other activities that are hard to do with limited vision. These solutions are often more effective than eyeglasses alone.

Pink Eye

Pink eye is a common eye condition in children but can affect anyone at any age. A virus causes pink eye, which is extremely contagious. The eye or eyes will become red, itchy, and irritated for the patient. Antibiotic eye drops, medications, and clean, wet wash clothes over the eyes can help get rid of this condition. Other infections may look like pink eye but be caused by something else. Having your eyes checked will allow for an accurate diagnosis and an effective treatment.
